Happy (Sad) cats

I have recovered both cats. Actually, Kara got Piggie. He's not the brightest of cats, and when she got home and found them gone, she found him lurking around the driveway crying because he was too freaked out to take advantage of his newfound freedom. Both cats turn out to be like this. They'll try like hell to get out, but once they do they get so confused and scared that they choke.

So I went out, and soon found Maggie cowering in the bushes, also pretty freaked out and afraid. I couldn't lure her out with food or play toys, so I had to prod at her until she broke free and ran across the lawn. Luckily, she ran out to the front, and saw Piggie staring out the window by the front door, and so went over and stared longingly in the house. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, so to speak. Anyway, I ran around trying to get food and stuff to tempt her to get close enough to catch, but Kara just opened up the front door and she trotted in. So a scary moment is over, and both cats seem fine. Their latest experiment in freedom will probably not lead to any better future behaviour, but at least they are back in their cozy home with treats.

As to the heating guys, we're about ready to cut them loose. And to make it all worse, I just heard the water heater fire up, and there was a big groan that wasn't there yesterday. My god, it just sucks sometimes to be a homeowner. On top of that, I have my mortgage company sending my nasty letters telling me that I hadn't paid the company they bought my loan from when I'm staring at the cancelled checks. So I call 'em up, and they say, 'duh, you probably have to call the other company about that'.

"Then why did you send me a letter telling me to call you" I ask
"Duh, I don't know" They say
"Can I talk to the person who signed the letter?" I ask
"Duh, no. This is the incoming call center. She works somewhere else" they say
"Well what do you suggest I do?" I ask
"Duh, Call the other company", they say
"But you sent me the letter telling me to call you" I say
"Duh, well, can you fax us a copy of the letter we sent you" They ask?

Just shoot me now.

Damn Heating Guys

Let the cats out. Can you believe it? The freaking heating guys LET THE CATS OUT. They are nice cats. They have no claws. I have to go home and look for them. More on this story as it develops.

New Katherine Gallery up on Owczarek.com

If you read the blog, but you don't stop by the home page much anymore, you should know that I finally got around to posting Katherine's 7 month gallery this evening. Damn, now I have to get the 8 month gallery up before she's 9, which is in, like, two weeks. Oh, they grow up so fast, *sniff*, *whine*.

Bass, or cargo container?

I don't know why I find this amusing, I just do. I guess I was secretly jealous. About him going to space, not about being a teel idol. I'm a little old for that and way too uncool. I mean, Nikki McKibbin can be a teen idol with a kid, but she's only 23 and she's playing the whole single mom thing, and she has red hair. I, on the other hand, am well into my thirties, have graying hair, and also have a kid. Way uncool. But anyway, I'm secretly happy that Lance Bass is not going to the ISS. I also can't believe he's not rich enough to pay for it himself. What's up with that? So they are going to send a cargo container in his place. He must feel like a total loser. So then I got to thinking, who is this Lance Bass kid? According to Melly, he's James Lance Bass, AKA Lansten, Stealth, PooFoo, and Scoop. I'm glad the people of earth didn't send PooFoo to space.

You know you are a parent when...

You spend way to much time cleaning. I was never a big cleaning guy. And Kara certainly isn't a big cleaning gal either. But I find myself spending a lot of time on the floor now, and getting all dirty in the process. And since Katherine can only crawl around on the floor at this point, she's going to either roll around in the same crap I'm rolling around in, or put it in her mouth, which is even worse. I guess you really can't help turning into your own parents as you take the journey, you know? My parents probably didn't want to vacuum, or dust, or change the sheets every week either. But after raising my sister and I, they ended up broken and responsible, just as is happening to me.

Anyway, it was a nice weekend. Kara got some girl-time today, and went shopping and out to eat. Katherine and I spent the day together. That's nice, because I have to go back to work tomorrow, and I have to get blood drawn for a cholesterol test before work, so I'll be bummed. Sunday was a pretty slow day too. Kara and Katherine and I went for nice long walks on Saturday and Sunday, but we couldn't today on account of the rain. The rain was really coming down today, which was a bummer, because I enjoy our morning walks, but we do really need it, because it's been very dry and droughty lately.
