A Christmas Tale

I bought Kara a sweater for Christmas. I mean, I got her other stuff, but the sweater was the pièce de résistance. She had dragged me into the store to see it well before Christmas because she was trying to get me to buy it for her then, so I made sure to pick it up as a gift. But it's not just any sweater -- this sweater is cool because it has leather panels mixed in with the knitting. Anyway, it was pretty expensive, $140, actually. But I got the wrong size, so we ran back to the mall the day after Christmas to do the whole exchange thing, and can you guess what they were selling it for? Can you guess? No, you could never guess. $65. I was shocked, and Kara was too. That is the mother of all ripoffs. So we returned it, bought a new one, and Kara bought some other stuff at the same time, and we got three gifts in one.

Christmas was nice, by the way, but I don't have time to tell you about it now. Maybe later if you're lucky.

By the way, there is a new 10 month gallery up for Katherine. I'm behind, but catching up.

How convenient...

Check this out:

The Boston Archdiocese, in a move it said would speed settlements with clergy sex abuse victims, asked a judge Monday to dismiss all such lawsuits on First Amendment grounds.

Now there is more to this story than meets the eye, and I know, because I read it at lunch today in disbelief. But I'd prefer to focus on the top level story. Are we really to believe that if the Boston Archdiocese manages to get all the lawsuits dismissed, they'll then go back and negotiate settlements? What are we, stupid?

It turns out that this is just a poorly written headline, but most of the local media reported it this way.

Long time, no blog

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. Hey look, my company has just been sold, my daughter is teething, and Christmas is upon us. What do you want?

The teething thing is bad, bad, bad. Katherine whined and moaned all weekend (and most of last week too). We're getting to the point where we need a Motrin IV to keep her in check. Really, there must be a gigantic molar or something coming in, because the rest of the teeth were not bad at all.
